And then, April came and everything I had been waiting on happened. My busy season resumed at work and our family calendar was filled to the brim. April felt like constant, unending motion.
Despite April's breakneck speed, it was a great month because we were able to spend a lot of time with family and friends. Here's the rundown:
- Grandma Berta and Papa Don visited the first weekend.
- Morgan and I went to Michigan the second weekend. I stayed for the weekend; Morgan stayed for the week. We saw Grandma Debbie, Papa Dave, Aunt Rachel and Uncle Jesse; and both sides of my extended family (funeral on one side, 1st birthday party on the other - photo with cousin Max). Note: Sorry there are no pictures of Jeff's family. I only saw them for a combined total of around 4 hours, but Morgan spent a few days with them.
- Grandma Berta and Papa Don drove Morgan back home the third weekend. While they were here we babysat our neighbors' kids and went out to breakfast. Then, Morgan and I went shopping with my friend Kristy.
- Morgan and I went to Grand Rapids to visit Aunt Jamie the fourth (Easter) weekend. We attended another birthday party (Spencer is 2!) while we were there and got to see my friends Shawna and Kristyn and their families. Aunt Jamie took us to the library (photo) and for our first visit to Horrocks - a popular local market.
- And, for the bonus fifth half-weekend of April, I finished up my busy season at work Friday with a 15.5 hour shift followed by an hour at Kristy's house letting her dog out (we're helping dog sit while they are in Mexico), and then I crashed into bed at 1am. Somehow, I turned the alarm off before I crashed, so Jeff was an hour late for work Saturday morning. When he got home from work, we all went to another birthday party (Finnley is 5!) and then Morgan went to the neighbors' for a few hours while we took Joey over to Kristy's to play with the dog.
As you can see, we really did spend a lot of time with family and friends - even Joey got to hang out with his dog buddy! But, we are so glad to see April end, because May is going to be all about resting and recharging for all of the fun activities we have planned this summer!
