Morgan has experienced her first - and hopefully last - visit to the ER. Right before I got home to pick her up from daycare yesterday (about 5:30pm), she pinched her thumb in the door and it tore her nail off.
It was a crazy evening from there - lots of blood and screaming. Morgan actually calmed down after the first few minutes (when the tylenol kicked in) but by the time Patty and I got her to the ER she looked like she had been through the ringer because of all the blood she had wiped all over herself.
Of course, Morgan screamed bloody murder every time someone had to touch her even if it had nothing to do with her finger. I can tell you from firsthand experience that when you're 16 months old and you're in pain, it's pretty scary when someone tries to put a paper wristband around your ankle.
Our poor baby was actually a trooper throughout the ordeal. During the periods where we were waiting for whatever came next, she was happy and even laughing at Merry Madagascar with Daddy (who came up to the ER after work around 7:30). Thankfully, the ER nurses pushed us through as fast as they could and we were able to get her home and in bed by 9pm. Mommy even got a good laugh on the way home when the Motrin the nurses gave Morgan kicked in and I began to hear a happy jibber-jabber coming from the back seat.
Today, Morgan was perfectly happy and played all day like normal - or at least as normal as you can play when your thumb is wrapped in a gauze cast. Her x-rays showed no fractures and the doctor was optimistic that her nail will grow back.

Poor little Morgan. What an ordeal. There is nothing worse than a hurt baby. A. Denise is so sorry. Kiss her boo boo for me and tell her I love her. Glad it is over and turned out ok. Hugs.
That is the most pityful looking little girl. I hope things are better today. It always tears your heart out when your child is hurting.
Give her a hug for us.
love you all

Poor little girl! Poor mommy! I can't even imagine. I'm dreading the first ER visit. I keep hoping that somehow my kids will magically be the first kids ever to never have to go! Hope it heals up soon!
Kim - There is hope! I never had to go to the ER as a child, so keep praying for it and it might come true.
A round of hugs for Morgan - coming right up! Thanks for sending them.
Oh my GOSH! That poor little (yet still very cute) girl! Give her a kiss from Aunt Tammy! Glad to hear she was a tough little girl throughout the ordeal!
