August Date Nights (#22-25)
It was Jeff's turn to plan in August. It was a busy month for us as a family with lots of summer activities to do, so all of the date nights were wonderfully low-key.
The activities Jeff planned included looking through old photo albums, playing UpWords and creating collages about each other (photo below).

Middle school-esque collages
I'm very glad we are committed to these date nights, because when busy months like this one roll around we already have some quiet time to be alone on the schedule. I think it helps keep us both in a more peaceful and centered state of mind.
Date Night #26
This was our first date night for September, so it's my turn to plan again. I set up three games for us to play and accumulate points. Jeff normally takes out the trash at our house, so I told him at the beginning that the loser would take out the trash the following week (meaning he really couldn't lose because he'd be taking it out regardless if I won).
The games were: Rolling checkers into a cup, rolling ping pong balls down a measuring tape into shot glasses and flipping a deck of cards into a hat.
I think I was up by one point at the end of the first two games, but by the end of all three games Jeff was up by at least 10 points. Apparently, I am no good at flipping cards into a hat and he spent a little time in the military practicing that very skill.
I took out the trash last week.
Date Night #27
This one was a doozy! We were supposed to be camping during this date night, but our camping trip was cancelled when Morgan vomited all over herself and her carseat on the way to the campground. So ...
Date night was pushed to Monday night (because Sat night we were too bummed to do anything except go to bed and Sunday night I had stuff to do). Since we had all of the supplies for s'mores already, I made them in the oven and we enjoyed them while sitting in our new camp chairs ... in our backyard.
We shared memories of camping when we were kids trying to remember the mishaps, but surprisingly we could remember only a few insignificant things. Mostly, we remember how much fun we had camping and how happy it made us. So, despite our horrible track record when it comes to camping (seriously, it's bad - ask us sometime), we came to the conclusion that we will keep trying to create new memories - for Morgan's sake and ours.
