When Morgan turned 2 last year, I thought I would begin to see her take more interest in having books read to her. Up until age 2, books in Morgan's world were mostly about seeing how fast she could turn the pages and/or how the pages tasted. She had no interest in sitting still long enough to listen to the stories contained within.
I have always dreamed of cuddling in a chair and reading stories to my children. I love to read and want to share that love with Morgan. So, as she approached age two and a half and still seemed to have little interest in having books read to her, I decided I needed to put forth more effort.
So, I gave myself a New Year's Resolution: I would take Morgan to the library 10 times before her 3rd birthday. My hope was that the repetition would make trips to the library and reading books habits in our lives.

We made 8 trips to the library between January 1 and Morgan's birthday. We visited three branches of the Indianapolis library and one branch of the Grand Rapids library during a trip to Michigan. In those 8 trips, Morgan played with puzzles, blocks, trains, magnets, computers and colored pictures, but she only picked up a book and asked me to read it once.
Despite this fact, however, I consider this resolution a complete success. We now read two books each night before we go to bed, Morgan "reads" to herself from books and she absolutely loves going to the library.

Thanks go out to Jeff for supporting my goal and Cousin Kim for being my accountability partner on this little journey.

Yay! The twins rarely read AT the library either. There are too many cool toys or coloring pages :) Sometime we will have to figure out a joint trip to the library!
That would be a lot of fun! Morgan has never gone to the library with other kids that we know, but she talks to all the kids we see there usually. She's such a friendly chatterbug!
Books are great and library time is fun!!! Glad you girls are doing this with the kids...so important. We have a nice little library in RC if you ever want to go. And Knaebe's Apple Farm in the fall is super fun for the kiddies...hint hint. A. Denise
Someday we will get Morgan up to Rogers City ...
