Date Nights #20 and #21 ... extended!

*Inspired by Project 52 at Simply Modern Mom (link in left-hand column)

Ok, date night has been happening around here, but blogging has not!

I still had two date nights to plan in July when I last blogged about date nights. Technically, one of those dates was this trip to Easley Winery's Groovin' in the Garden on a Tuesday night:

Groovin' with the largest ice pops ever

In reality, however, my two date nights turned into a 5-night dating marathon! You see, Morgan spent the entire last week of July in Michigan with the grandparents (more on her trip later).

So, childless for 5 nights in a row, we took advantage of every second!

Saturday night: (Morgan left Sat afternoon) Jeff and I both worked this particular Sat., so when we got home and there was no child there ... we went grocery shopping! Lame? Maybe. But leisurely shopping for groceries with your husband is WAY relaxing compared to shopping with a 2-year-old.
And, after the grocery shopping, we went over to a friend's house and visited on their front porch for awhile.

Sunday: *Holy* bliss! We both got to sleep in! Surprisingly, however, Jeff was up around 6:30 a.m. and couldn't get back to sleep. I milked it until around 8 a.m. Then, we spent practically the entire day swimming at Katrina and Brad's house. A lazy summer Sunday is something I hadn't even realized I missed!

Monday night: Couples bliss! We went for an hour-long couples massage after work! Oh, the sweet relaxation. This was actually our 5-year anniversary gift to each other, celebrated a week and a half early!

Tuesday night: As previously mentioned, we went to Groovin' in the Garden at Easley Winery. My co-worker Maureen works there part-time and her boyfriend is the chef at the Groovin' events. Chef Dave made a very delicious chicken salad that night and served it alongside a fruit plate. I don't even eat chicken salad normally, but it was delicious! Several people I know from work were there, and we managed to get a behind-the-scenes tour of the winery and met one of the owners. It was a delightfully adult evening!

Wednesday night: We watched a movie ... at home ... on a weeknight! This never happens. Jeff is in bed shortly after Morgan on weeknights since he gets up at 3 a.m. to go to work. And, obviously, the only movies we can watch before Morgan goes to bed have to involve cartoon characters or puppets.

Thursday night: Well, I guess our 5-night dating marathon was really just 4 nights. Since I was leaving Friday night right after work to drive to MI, we used Thursday night to clean house, finish laundry and for me to pack my things for the weekend. Either way, I think we both felt refreshed and relaxed after all of this lovely time alone. Thank you to all of the Grandparents who made it possible!
